The Belize River Lodge is a bit of a misnomer, because this operation actually consists of lodges in two different places, and offer anglers the unique opportunity to fish in two completely different environments for the price of one. The River Lodge is located on the banks of the Belize River about four miles up from the Caribbean Sea. This lodge provides access to many miles of fishing in three different jungle river systems as well as countless off-shore islands and flats. The primary fishery in the rivers is for tarpon, where you can often sight-cast to schools of rolling fish in the 20-50 pound range. Snook are also commonly encountered.
Many species of birds and other wildlife such as manatees, howler monkeys, turtles, iguanas and crocodiles may be seen along the banks of the Belize River. And the River Lodge is also a prime location for guests to access road-based activities / tours for birding, Mayan sites, cave exploration, tubing, zip-lines and more.
All rooms in the River Lodge have comfortable beds, AC, Wi-Fi and a full bathroom. Meals are served family-style and the dinner menu often features freshly caught locally-seasoned seafood and chicken. Lunches are usually packed to take on the water and include sandwiches, fruit, chips and a sweet. And traditional American breakfasts are served with a Belizean twist. A self-service bar, fly-tying table and great selection of local flies are also available.

The Island Lodge is surrounded by turquoise, tropical waters about 12 nautical miles from the mainland and provides easy access to some of the best fishing that Belize has to offer. Fishing for bonefish, permit, tarpon, barracuda, snook and jacks is literally minutes away from the dock, so Grand Slams are a fairly common occurence here. And the opportunities to swim, snorkel, see manatees and beachcomb are nearly unlimited. The Island Lodge is smaller (maximum of 6 guests) and includes most of the same amenities and meals as the River Lodge.
The Belize River Lodge offers a variety of different packages catering to a wide range of angling and non-angling interests. Please contact me to learn more or to take part in a hosted adventure.
