Fly Fishing Instruction

Fly fishing is a specialized sport that elevates the angling experience to a new level. Dedicated newcomers can learn the basics of fly fishing by reading about rods, reels, lines, leaders, knots, casting and insects on their own. But a much more efficient and enjoyable way to get started is to enroll in a fly fishing course or take a fly casting lesson.  This will help you to avoid many of the frustrating pit-falls that beginners encounter, and drastically reduce the learning curve.  Seasoned veterans also benefit from fly fishing instruction because one of the most wonderful things about the sport is that there is always something new to learn.

All fly fishing classes and casting clinics are taught by Kevin Tracewski, who is a certified fly casting instructor, and has received the University of Maine’s outstanding teacher award.  The goal in all of my instructional programs is to teach you the skills necessary to be successful at fly fishing on your own.  But I never lose sight of the fact that fishing is a form of recreation, not a matter of life and death. So the over-riding theme is for everyone to have FUN.

Fantastic experience!!  I learned more in a two-day course with you, than I did in ten years of fishing on my own.

Honestly, I was shocked.  I attended your class just to please my husband, and ended up falling in love with fly fishing.

Since we’ve taken your class, it’s been exciting to actually catch fish when we go out fly fishing.

You provide the total package of fly fishing instruction, and teach in a way that anyone can understand.
