Maine is a unique place – less than ten-percent developed, and more forested now than in the 1880’s — yet within a day’s drive of nearly fifty million people. Much of the Northeast’s best native brook trout, landlocked salmon, and smallmouth bass fishing can be found here.
Maine provides anglers with countless opportunities to get off the beaten path. Yet 90% of fishermen crowd onto 10% of the state’s waters. Therefore, many less obvious, or more difficult to reach places, see little angling pressure. This works in the favor of people who book trips with a knowledgeable guide because it provides them with a wide variety of lightly fished streams and ponds to choose from.
My approach to guiding is to take clients to the places that I like to fish on my own. In some of these waters, we are guaranteed to catch lots of fish. In others, we fish for large, more challenging fish. I always try to go to places that are aesthetically pleasing and provide a real Maine experience. And the over-riding goal on each of my trips is for everyone to have FUN!!
