June is Top Month

If you ask 10 Mainers to name their favorite month to fish, 8 of them will say June.  That’s because water temperatures and flows are usually ideal for nearly every game fish that lives in the state.  I spend lots of time fly fishing wild trout streams and remote brook trout ponds in the vast North Woods.  For people looking for a true Maine trout fishing adventure, there is no better time than June.

I also do quite a bit of salmon fishing in the rivers around Moosehead Lake and Baxter Park.  And, near the end of the month, I start to run drift boat floats on the Penobscot River for smallmouth bass.

June is a very busy time of year, and I am often in remote areas without phone service or internet.  So please be patient if it takes me a few days to return your call or email.
