I offer a limited number of guided ice fishing trips each winter. These trips can range from a wilderness excursion in pursuit of trophy lake trout and salmon, to an easy day of fishing out of a heated ice shack or lakeside cabin. Trips cost $550 per day and include all of your fishing gear, bait and a snowmobile ride to the fishing grounds. Kids and well-behaved dogs are welcome on appropriate trips.
I am affiliated with several top lodges and offer packages that include a comfortable lakeside cabin, meals, etc. Some popular ‘extras’ include a wood-fired hot tub (out on the ice – under the stars), snowmobiling and cross-country skiing.
Ice fishing is a popular winter activity that many people from outside of Maine miss out on because they think the conditions will be too cold and uncomfortable. However, at the end of the day, most clients remark on how comfortable they were on the trip. I like ice fishing because it offers a dramatic contrast to open-water fishing and always produces some of the largest fish of the season. The fact that it tends to be a very social activity also greatly adds to its appeal.
Safety is always my primary concern. So I reserve the right to cancel / reschedule a trip if ice or weather conditions are bad. “Just standing on a frozen lake and watching you drill the holes through two feet of ice was worth the trip. All the lake trout and salmon that we caught was just a bonus.”
Mike T, Virginia
“After seeing all the hard work you did to make us comfortable, I really think you should charge more.”
